Gateshead Radiology Clinic - Red Eye Constructions

Project Description

Newcastle Steel Frames & Trusses supplied the structural steel for this 445m² radiology clinic in Gateshead, built in partnership with Red Eye Constructions.

The design called for truss spans of almost 19 metres at a 25-degree pitch, pushing truss height to close to 4.5 metres — a scale that isn't practical to transport or manoeuvre in one piece, especially on a tight site. NSFT's design team broke the spans down using steel girders and top-hatted connections, keeping every piece road-transportable while still delivering the long, open spans the clinic's layout needed.

Red Eye Constructions installed the frame on site — and did it well. LGS installation is often seen as a specialist job that builders shy away from, but the Red Eye team took it on and delivered a clean, well-executed result.

A great example of what's possible when the frame design and the installer are both up to the challenge.
